Lucy has been reunited with her mama! After 10+ weeks at Grateful, while her mama underwent a double lung transplant, Lucy went home today! Our Safe Haven program keeps pets safe in a home while their owners are away for lifesaving purposes at no charge. Thank you, Barb, for entrusting us with her care. We love her!

Friends, families and PETS enjoyed he 3rd annual Grateful Fest Music, Food & Pet Festival at Morrow’s Meadow Park in Yorktown. Events included a pet parade and costume contest, cutest pet contest, Kids Zone,Dog Bed Blowout Sale, Star Wars and Fairy Tale Princesses costume characters, Picasso’s Pooch Cog Art Booth and more. Dozens of vendors were on hand with booths! This was the year’s biggest fundraiser for Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary in Muncie, Indiana and will help with the building fund. Grateful Rescue INC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, takes unwanted domestic dogs & cats that find their way to us, rehabilitate and place them in loving homes. Soon we will begin construction on thirty-eight acres of land on the west side of Muncie, Indiana.

Dixie the Praying Dog is a 5-year-old Old Bluetick Coonhound who is a therapy dog for veterans and a deer tracking dog. She is known as "Dixie the Praying Dog" because her owner, Brian Calvert, taught her to bow down in a downward dog stance to pray and say thank you to veterans on command.
